Privacy Policy

1. Data Storage

All mood entries, journal notes, activity logs, and personal insights are stored exclusively on your device. MoodKit leverages your device's native encryption and, where enabled, biometric authentication such as Face ID or Touch ID, to safeguard your data. We do not operate external servers that hold your personal information.

2. iCloud Sync

If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, your data is transmitted directly to Apple's CloudKit infrastructure using your personal Apple ID. MoodKit does not relay your data through third-party servers. All information is encrypted both in transit and at rest, in accordance with Apple's industry-leading security standards. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time from within the app's Settings.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

MoodKit does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Your mood entries, journal text, or activity logs
• Your Apple Health data
• Personal identifiers such as your name, email, or phone number — MoodKit has no accounts
• Location data or contacts

4. Apple Health

The Apple Health connection is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, MoodKit reads your sleep, exercise, and step data from Apple Health so those can be ranked alongside the activities you tag. That reading and ranking happens entirely on your device — the data is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Separately, and only if you enable it, MoodKit can save your check-ins to Apple Health as State of Mind entries (iOS 18 and later). MoodKit writes these but never reads them back. You can revoke either permission at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.

We never use your Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or data mining, and we never sell it or share it with data brokers. The same applies to your mood entries and journal notes. This is not only our policy — Apple requires it of every app that reads Health data, and it is enforced by the App Store.

5. Widgets

MoodKit's Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets display a small summary of your data — today's mood, your current streak, and recent mood colors. To do that, the summary is written to a shared app group container on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere. Removing the widgets or deleting the app removes it.

6. Analytics, Diagnostics, and Third-Party Services

To keep MoodKit working and understand how it is used, the app includes the third-party services listed below. None of them receive your mood entries, journal notes, activity tags, or Apple Health data.

• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, and Remote Config) — records app usage such as which screens are opened, along with crash and performance diagnostics. Privacy details.
• AppsFlyer — measures which marketing campaign led to your install. Privacy details.
• Meta (Facebook) App Events — measures the effectiveness of our advertising. Privacy details.
• RevenueCat — manages your subscription or Lifetime purchase. Your purchase is processed by Apple's App Store. Privacy details.

7. Advertising and Tracking

MoodKit shows no ads inside the app. We do advertise MoodKit elsewhere, and to measure whether that advertising works the app asks your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, or simply never respond, no advertising identifier is shared. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Whether or not you allow tracking, we also rely on SKAdNetwork — a measurement system built into iOS. Apple tells us that a campaign led to an install, in aggregate and on a delay, without telling us who you are. We never receive an individual identity through it.

8. Data Deletion

You are in full control of your data at all times. Deleting the app from your device will remove all locally stored data. If you have enabled iCloud Sync, you may also delete your synced data through your iCloud account settings.

9. Children's Privacy

MoodKit is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data through the app, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
